What type of senior living does The Oaks of Pasadena offer?
We offer independent living in spacious apartments for older adults (age 55+), as well as a small assisted living home called The Retreat for individuals needing daily support.
Where is The Oaks located?
Our community is nestled in a quiet residential area of East Pasadena located at 2954 E. Del Mar Blvd. We are conveniently situated near the Hastings Ranch shopping area and local landmarks like the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. Our location makes it easy for families from Pasadena, San Marino, and Arcadia to visit frequently.
Is there a buy-in or community fee to live at The Oaks?
No. Unlike many retirement communities, The Oaks of Pasadena does not require a buy-in or upfront community fee for our independent living apartments. However, we do have a one-time $2,500 community fee for individuals moving into our assisted living home.
What are the monthly rates for your apartments?
Monthly rates start at $4,000 for a studio, $5,550 for a one-bedroom, and $7,850 for a two-bedroom apartment. All leases are annual and include access to amenities, activities, and our restaurant-style dining room.
What amenities are included?
Residents enjoy 27 acres of landscaped gardens, walking paths, a heated pool and spa, gas fireplaces (one and two-bedroom apartments), free parking, local shuttle service, weekly housekeeping, and a flexible meal plan.
Can I customize my apartment?
Yes. Residents are welcome to make modifications to their apartments to suit their preferences and needs, subject to management approval and use of a licensed contractor.
Do you charge a second person fee?
No. We do not charge a second person fee for couples or roommates sharing an apartment. We offer both private and semi-private rates for individuals at The Retreat, our assisted living home.
What makes The Oaks stand out among other senior communities?
Residents and visitors often tell us that the first thing they notice is our exceptionally warm and friendly environment. Unlike the sterile feel of larger facilities, The Oaks feels like a true home from the moment you walk in. Our community is uniquely situated on lushly landscaped, spacious, and quiet grounds. These serene outdoor spaces provide a peaceful sanctuary where residents can enjoy nature, stroll through the gardens, and find true tranquility right here in the heart of Pasadena.
What makes The Retreat different from other assisted living homes?
Unlike large, institutional facilities, The Retreat is a boutique residential care home licensed for no more than nine residents. This allows us to provide a level of personalized, one-to-one attention and a cozy, homelike atmosphere that simply isn’t possible in larger settings. Our residents also have the option to participate in the various activities and events offered next door at The Oaks.
What dining options are available?
Our elegant dining room offers chef-prepared meals with à la carte options. Breakfast is complimentary and residents receive a flexible meal allowance each month to use as they wish. To-go and delivery options are available. Schedule a tour, and we will invite you to join us for lunch or dinner to experience our menu firsthand, as well as meet some of our residents.
What activities are offered each month?
Our calendar includes fitness classes, art workshops, music appreciation, social outings, speakers, and seasonal celebrations. Our full-time activities coordinator welcomes suggestions. Prospective residents are welcome to join us for select events.
Is there a charge for the waitlist? How long is the waitlist?
Currently, there is no charge or obligation to join the waitlist for either The Oaks or The Retreat. At The Retreat, our boutique assisted living home, we occasionally have immediate openings available. For certain popular apartment styles at The Oaks, the wait time can range from a couple of months to several months or longer. Because there is no financial commitment required to hold your place in line, we highly recommend joining the list early to ensure your family has the most options when you are ready to make a move.
