Since 1981, The Oaks of Pasadena has proudly served as a welcoming haven for older adults seeking vibrant, independent living. As one of the earliest 55 and older communities in Pasadena, The Oaks has built a lasting reputation for exceptional hospitality, beautifully maintained grounds, and personalized service that feels like home.
Comfortable Living with Thoughtful Amenities
At The Oaks, we believe your home should reflect your personal style and comfort. Each of our 85 thoughtfully designed apartments features a private patio or balcony, a cozy gas fireplace in one- and two-bedroom layouts, and either a full-size kitchen or convenient kitchenette depending on the floor plan. With 24-hour emergency call systems in every apartment and a pet-friendly philosophy, The Oaks is a place where residents—and their furry companions—can truly feel at home.
Many residents have personalized their apartments with custom paint colors and flooring, tasteful enhancements such as custom cabinetry, backsplashes and counters, built-in shelving, walk-in showers, fireplace surrounds, recessed lighting, skylights and more. Whether working with one of our trusted contractors or a licensed professional of their own choosing, residents can create a living space that’s uniquely theirs. We’re here to support that journey every step of the way.
Life at The Oaks of Pasadena is all about comfort, connection, and convenience. Residents enjoy delicious daily dining with a variety of entrées and à la carte options served in our elegant restaurant-style dining room. Our dedicated team provides housekeeping and laundry services, local transportation, and assigned underground parking to make everyday living effortless. A full calendar of social, recreational, and educational activities offers opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with neighbors.
Assisted Living at The Retreat: Personalized Care in a Home-Like Setting
Just around the corner from The Oaks of Pasadena, The Retreat offers a warm, residential alternative for older adults who benefit from a bit of extra support in daily living. Housed in a former physician’s home, this licensed assisted living facility accommodates up to nine residents in a truly intimate and home-like environment. Residents of The Retreat maintain their independence while receiving help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, meals, and medication management. While not a skilled nursing facility, The Retreat provides compassionate, personalized care with an emphasis on comfort, dignity, and peace of mind. Current residents of The Oaks are given priority for available openings, but we welcome inquiries from individuals and families outside our community who would like to join the waitlist.

Visiting The Retreat
Due to the personalized and intimate setting of our assisted living home — The Retreat — we host periodic open house events in place of individual tours. These gatherings offer a thoughtful way to experience the environment, meet our team, and explore what makes The Retreat so special.
